《诗(shi)》云:"瞻(zhan)彼(bi)淇澳,侵(qin)疋⑩。有(you)斐(fei)君子,如切如磋,如琢如磨。瑟兮兮,赫兮暄兮。有(you)斐君子(zi),终不可召(zhao)猓(guo)""如切如磋"者,道(dao)学也。"如琢如磨"者,自(zi)修也。"瑟兮(xi)兮"者(zhe),恂(xun)也。"赫兮(xi)喧(xuan)兮(xi)"者,威仪也。"有斐君子(zi),终不可召"者,道盛德至善(shan),民(min)之不(bu)能忘也。《诗》云:"于(yu)戏前王不(bu)忘(wang)!"君(jun1)子贤其贤而亲其亲,小人乐其(qi)乐(le)而利其(qi)利,此(ci)以没世不忘也。《康诰(gao)》曰:"克明(ming)德(de)。"《大甲》曰:"顾天(tian)之明命。"《帝(di)典(dian)》曰:"克明(ming)峻德。"皆自明(ming)也。汤之(zhi)《盘铭(ming)》曰:"苟日新,日日新,又(you)日新。"《康诰》曰(yue):"作(zuo)新民。"《诗(shi)》曰(yue):"周虽(sui)旧邦,其命(ming)惟新。"是故君子(zi)无所不(bu)用(yong)其极。《诗》云:"邦(bang)畿千(qian)里,惟(wei)民所止。"《诗》云(yun):"缗(min)蛮黄鸟,止(zhi)于丘(qiu)隅。"子(zi)曰(yue):"于止,知其(qi)所止。可(ke)以(yi)人而不如鸟乎?"《诗》云(yun):"穆穆文王,于缉熙敬止!"为(wei)人君,止于仁;为人(ren)臣(chen),止(zhi)于敬;为人子,止(zhi)于孝(xiao);为人父(fu),止于(yu)慈;与国人交,止于信。子曰(yue):"听讼,吾犹(you)人也(ye)。必也使无讼(song)乎(hu)!"无情者(zhe)不得尽其(qi)辞,大畏(wei)民志。此谓知本。
