《诗(shi)》云:"瞻(zhan)彼淇澳,侵疋⑩。有斐(fei)君子,如切(qie)如磋,如琢(zhuo)如(ru)磨。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄兮。有斐(fei)君(jun1)子,终不可召(zhao)猓""如切如磋"者(zhe),道学也。"如(ru)琢如(ru)磨"者,自(zi)修也。"瑟兮兮"者(zhe),恂也。"赫(he)兮(xi)喧兮"者(zhe),威仪也。"有(you)斐君子,终(zhong)不可召"者,道盛(sheng)德(de)至善,民之不(bu)能忘也(ye)。《诗》云:"于戏前(qian)王(wang)不(bu)忘(wang)!"君子贤其贤而亲其亲(qin),小人乐其(qi)乐而利其利(li),此以没世不忘也。《康(kang)诰》曰:"克(ke)明德。"《大(da)甲》曰:"顾天(tian)之明命。"《帝(di)典(dian)》曰:"克明(ming)峻德。"皆自(zi)明也。汤之(zhi)《盘铭(ming)》曰(yue):"苟(gou)日新,日日新,又(you)日新(xin)。"《康诰》曰:"作新民(min)。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦(bang),其(qi)命(ming)惟新。"是故君(jun1)子无所不用其极(ji)。《诗(shi)》云(yun):"邦畿千(qian)里,惟(wei)民所(suo)止。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗蛮(man)黄鸟,止于丘(qiu)隅(yu)。"子曰:"于止,知其所止。可以(yi)人而不如鸟(niao)乎?"《诗》云:"穆穆文王,于缉(ji)熙敬止!"为人君,止于(yu)仁;为人臣,止于敬;为(wei)人子,止于孝;为人父,止于慈;与国人交(jiao),止于信。子曰:"听讼(song),吾犹人也。必也使无讼(song)乎!"无情者不得(de)尽其(qi)辞(ci),大畏民志。此(ci)谓知本。
