《诗》云:"瞻彼淇澳,侵疋(ya)⑩。有斐(fei)君子,如切(qie)如磋(cuo),如琢如磨。瑟兮兮,赫兮暄(xuan)兮。有斐君子,终(zhong)不(bu)可召(zhao)猓""如切如磋"者,道(dao)学也。"如琢如磨"者,自(zi)修(xiu)也(ye)。"瑟(se)兮(xi)兮"者,恂也。"赫(he)兮喧(xuan)兮"者,威(wei)仪也。"有(you)斐(fei)君子(zi),终不可召"者(zhe),道盛德至善,民之不(bu)能忘也(ye)。《诗》云:"于戏前(qian)王不(bu)忘!"君子贤其贤(xian)而(er)亲其亲,小人乐(le)其乐而利(li)其(qi)利(li),此以没世不忘(wang)也。《康诰》曰:"克明德。"《大甲》曰:"顾天之明命。"《帝(di)典(dian)》曰:"克明峻德。"皆自明也。汤之《盘(pan)铭》曰(yue):"苟(gou)日(ri)新,日(ri)日(ri)新,又日(ri)新。"《康诰》曰:"作新民(min)。"《诗》曰(yue):"周虽旧邦,其命惟(wei)新。"是故君子无所不(bu)用其(qi)极。《诗》云(yun):"邦畿千里(li),惟民所止。"《诗》云:"缗蛮黄鸟(niao),止于(yu)丘隅。"子曰:"于(yu)止(zhi),知其所止(zhi)。可(ke)以人而不如鸟(niao)乎?"《诗》云:"穆(mu)穆文王(wang),于(yu)缉熙(xi)敬(jing)止!"为人(ren)君,止于(yu)仁(ren);为(wei)人(ren)臣,止于敬;为(wei)人子,止于孝;为人父(fu),止于(yu)慈;与(yu)国人交,止于信。子曰(yue):"听讼,吾犹(you)人(ren)也。必也使(shi)无讼乎!"无情者不(bu)得尽其辞,大畏民志。此谓(wei)知本。
