《诗》曰:"衣锦尚鸾,恶其文之著也(ye)。故君子之道(dao),暗然而日章(zhang);小(xiao)人之(zhi)道(dao),的(de)然而日(ri)亡。君(jun1)子之(zhi)道:淡而不厌,简(jian)而文(wen),温而(er)理,知远之(zhi)近,知(zhi)风(feng)之自,知微之(zhi)显(xian),可(ke)与入德矣。《诗》云:"潜(qian)虽伏矣,亦孔之昭!"故君子内(nei)省不(bu)疚,无(wu)恶于(yu)志。君子所(suo)不(bu)可(ke)及(ji)者,其(qi)唯人之(zhi)所不见乎!《诗》云:"相(xiang)在尔室,尚(shang)不愧于屋(wu)漏。"故君(jun1)子不动而敬(jing),不言而信(xin)。《诗(shi)》曰(yue):"奏(zou)假无言,时靡有争。"是故(gu)君子(zi)不(bu)赏而民(min)劝,不(bu)怒而(er)民威于铁钺。《诗》曰:"不显惟(wei)德,百辟其刑之。"是故(gu)君子(zi)笃恭(gong)而(er)天下平。《诗(shi)》曰:"予怀明德,不大声以色。"子曰:"声色之于以化(hua)民,末也。"《诗》曰:"德萑缑,毛(mao)犹有伦;"上(shang)天(tian)之载,无声无臭",至矣(yi)!
