《诗》云:"瞻(zhan)彼淇澳,侵(qin)疋⑩。有(you)斐君子,如切如磋,如琢如磨。瑟兮兮,赫兮(xi)暄(xuan)兮。有斐(fei)君(jun1)子,终(zhong)不可召猓(guo)""如(ru)切如(ru)磋"者,道学也。"如琢(zhuo)如磨"者,自修也。"瑟(se)兮兮"者,恂也。"赫兮(xi)喧兮(xi)"者,威(wei)仪也。"有斐君子,终(zhong)不可召"者,道盛德至善(shan),民之不(bu)能忘(wang)也。《诗》云(yun):"于戏前王不(bu)忘(wang)!"君(jun1)子贤其贤而(er)亲其亲,小人(ren)乐其乐而利其利,此(ci)以没世不忘也。《康(kang)诰(gao)》曰:"克明德(de)。"《大甲》曰:"顾天之明(ming)命。"《帝典》曰:"克明峻德。"皆(jie)自明也(ye)。汤(tang)之《盘铭(ming)》曰:"苟日新(xin),日日新,又日新。"《康诰》曰:"作(zuo)新民(min)。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦,其命惟(wei)新。"是故君子无(wu)所不用其(qi)极。《诗(shi)》云:"邦(bang)畿(ji)千里(li),惟(wei)民(min)所止。"《诗》云(yun):"缗蛮黄鸟,止于丘(qiu)隅。"子曰:"于止,知其(qi)所止(zhi)。可(ke)以人(ren)而(er)不如鸟乎?"《诗》云(yun):"穆穆(mu)文王(wang),于缉(ji)熙敬(jing)止!"为人君,止于仁;为(wei)人臣,止于敬;为(wei)人子,止于孝;为人父(fu),止于慈;与国(guo)人(ren)交,止(zhi)于信。子曰:"听讼(song),吾犹人也(ye)。必(bi)也使无(wu)讼乎!"无情(qing)者不得尽其辞,大(da)畏民(min)志。此谓(wei)知本。
