《诗》云(yun):"瞻彼淇(qi)澳,侵疋⑩。有斐君(jun1)子,如切如(ru)磋,如琢如(ru)磨。瑟兮兮(xi),赫兮暄(xuan)兮。有(you)斐君子(zi),终不(bu)可召(zhao)猓""如切如(ru)磋(cuo)"者,道(dao)学也。"如琢如(ru)磨"者,自修也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂也(ye)。"赫兮喧兮"者(zhe),威仪(yi)也。"有(you)斐君子,终(zhong)不可(ke)召"者,道盛德至(zhi)善,民之不能忘(wang)也。《诗》云:"于戏前王不忘!"君(jun1)子贤其(qi)贤(xian)而(er)亲其亲,小人乐其乐而利其利,此以没世不忘也(ye)。《康(kang)诰》曰:"克明(ming)德。"《大(da)甲》曰:"顾天(tian)之明命。"《帝典》曰:"克明(ming)峻德。"皆自(zi)明(ming)也。汤(tang)之《盘铭》曰:"苟日(ri)新,日(ri)日(ri)新,又日新。"《康诰》曰:"作新民。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧(jiu)邦,其命惟新。"是故(gu)君(jun1)子无所不用(yong)其极。《诗》云(yun):"邦畿千里(li),惟(wei)民所止。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗蛮(man)黄鸟(niao),止于丘(qiu)隅。"子曰:"于止,知其所止(zhi)。可(ke)以人而不(bu)如鸟乎?"《诗》云(yun):"穆穆(mu)文王(wang),于(yu)缉熙敬止(zhi)!"为人君,止于(yu)仁;为人臣(chen),止于(yu)敬;为人(ren)子,止于(yu)孝;为人(ren)父(fu),止于慈(ci);与国(guo)人交(jiao),止于信。子曰:"听(ting)讼(song),吾犹人(ren)也。必也使无讼(song)乎!"无(wu)情(qing)者不(bu)得尽(jin)其辞,大畏民志。此谓(wei)知本。
