《诗(shi)》云(yun):"瞻(zhan)彼淇澳,侵疋(ya)⑩。有(you)斐君子,如切如磋,如琢如磨(mo)。瑟(se)兮兮,赫兮(xi)暄(xuan)兮。有(you)斐君子,终不(bu)可(ke)召(zhao)猓""如切如磋"者,道学也。"如琢如磨"者(zhe),自修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂(xun)也。"赫兮喧兮"者,威(wei)仪也。"有斐(fei)君子,终不(bu)可召(zhao)"者,道盛德至善,民之不能忘也。《诗(shi)》云:"于戏前王不忘(wang)!"君(jun1)子贤其(qi)贤(xian)而亲其亲,小(xiao)人乐其乐而利其(qi)利(li),此(ci)以没世不忘(wang)也。《康诰》曰:"克明德。"《大甲(jia)》曰:"顾天之(zhi)明命。"《帝典》曰:"克明峻德。"皆(jie)自明也。汤(tang)之《盘铭》曰:"苟日新,日日新,又日新(xin)。"《康诰(gao)》曰:"作新民。"《诗(shi)》曰(yue):"周虽(sui)旧邦,其命惟新。"是故君(jun1)子无(wu)所不用其极。《诗(shi)》云:"邦畿千(qian)里,惟民所止。"《诗(shi)》云(yun):"缗蛮(man)黄(huang)鸟,止(zhi)于丘隅(yu)。"子曰:"于(yu)止,知其所(suo)止。可(ke)以人而(er)不如(ru)鸟乎?"《诗(shi)》云:"穆穆文(wen)王,于缉(ji)熙敬止!"为人君,止(zhi)于(yu)仁;为(wei)人臣,止(zhi)于敬;为人子,止于孝(xiao);为人父,止(zhi)于慈;与国(guo)人交,止于信。子曰:"听讼,吾(wu)犹(you)人也。必也使(shi)无讼(song)乎!"无情(qing)者不得(de)尽(jin)其辞,大畏民志。此谓(wei)知本。
